Biography

Lucas Hernandez was born on February 14, 1996, in Marseille, but soon moved with his brother Théo and his mother to Spain. He began his football journey at the age of 9 with Rayo Majadahonda, and two years later joined the Atlético de Madrid academy, where he progressed through all youth levels before making his professional debut in 2014.

Step by step, Lucas earned his place in the squad, making appearances in La Liga and, more notably, in the UEFA Champions League. In the 2015–2016 season, he featured in the Champions League final, narrowly lost to Real Madrid. He went on to win the Europa League in 2018 with Atlético Madrid, defeating Olympique de Marseille, and lifted the UEFA Super Cup that same year.

It was a golden year for Lucas, as he also became a World Champion with France in 2018, playing a key role in securing Les Bleus' second star. He later added the 2021 UEFA Nations League title to his international résumé.

In 2019, Lucas transferred to Bayern Munich, becoming the most expensive signing in the club’s history at the time. With the Bavarian giants, he won every available trophy in 2020: the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, German Super Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. He added three more Bundesliga titles in 2021, 2022, and 2023.

The French international joined Paris Saint-Germain during the 2023 summer transfer window.
