Before we can even think about a clash between the two sides in the quarter-finals, both nations must first get through the round of 16. Morocco will be first up, taking on one of the host nations this Saturday, 4 July at 7pm (French time) at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. Having knocked out the Netherlands in the previous round (1–1, 3–2 on penalties), Achraf Hakimi and his Atlas Lions will now face Canada.
Our five Les Bleus players competing in the World Cup are back in action after Morocco play and will face the surprise package Paraguay, who knocked Germany out in the previous round (1–1, 4–3 on penalties). Les Bleus are set to face La Albirroja at 11pm (French time) at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia this Saturday, and will be able to count on the form of the Parisian players, especially Dembélé, Doué and Barcola, all of whom have scored since the start of the World Cup.
In the third match of the round of 16, Brazil, captained by Marquinhos, will face Norway this Sunday, 5 July 2026, at 10pm, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, which will also host the final. Having beaten Japan 2–1 in the last 32, Marquinhos’s team-mates will face a tough challenge from Norway, who knocked out Côte d’Ivoire 2–1 in the previous round.
A big match in the round of 16 between Portugal – featuring Vitinha, Neves and Mendes – and La Roja, with Fabián Ruiz. Boosted by their last-gasp victory over Croatia (2–1), the Portuguese will have to fight hard this Monday, 6 July at 9pm, against a Spanish side considered one of the favourites to win the tournament, having knocked out Austria in the round of 16 with a convincing 3–0 victory.
Should they qualify, Morocco and France will face each other in the quarter-finals. What about the other Parisian players? Marquinhos’s Brazil would face the winner of the round of 16 tie between Mexico and England. Portugal or Spain, for their part, would play the winner of the USA v Belgium match.
