Born Vítor Machado Ferreira, the player better known as Vitinha is a true product of Portuguese football development. Born in Santo Tirso, near Porto, he began his training at FC Porto at the age of 11.
A serious progression through all youth levels of the club eventually led to his breakout in 2019, marked by a UEFA Youth League title, a Breakout Player award at the Toulon Tournament, and a U19 Euro final appearance with Portugal.
After making his professional debut and spending a season on loan at Wolverhampton, Vitinha returned to Porto to complete a full and commanding season, quickly establishing himself as the conductor of Sérgio Conceição’s midfield. His rise earned him a call-up to the senior national team and was crowned with a league and cup double, in which he played a key role.
Newly voted Primeira Liga’s Best Young Player, the Dragões’ midfield gem chose to take the next step in his career by signing a five-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain. At just 22 years old, he became the first signing of the 2022–2023 transfer window and played a part in the club’s record 11th French league title.
