Born in Vernon in Normandy, Ousmane Dembélé began playing football at Évreux FC before joining the Stade Rennais academy. He made his professional debut there, enjoying an exceptional first season in 2015-2016 and winning the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year award. Courted by Europe’s biggest clubs, he joined Borussia Dortmund in 2016, before moving to FC Barcelona the following summer.
Two-footed and a brilliant dribbler, Dembélé thrilled observers across Europe. In Spain, he built an impressive trophy collection, winning three league titles, two Copa del Rey trophies and two Spanish Super Cups. In summer 2023, he returned to France by signing for Paris Saint-Germain, where he became one of Luis Enrique’s key attacking players. The Spanish coach transformed the unpredictable winger into a complete and clinical forward, making him one of the major architects of the club’s first Champions League triumph on 31 May 2025 against Inter Milan (5-0).
After a fabulous season, he was awarded the 2025 France Football Ballon d’Or. During the 2025-2026 season, he continued his incredible form, making decisive contributions in every knockout round of the Champions League. On 30 May 2026, the capital club won its second consecutive title in the competition. In a tight final against Arsenal, Ousmane Dembélé scored the equalising penalty and paved the way for victory in the shoot-out (1-1 a.e.t., 4-3 pens.).
A France international since September 2016, he became world champion with Les Bleus in 2018, then reached another final four years later, losing to Argentina. He played a decisive role at the 2026 World Cup, where France reached the semi-finals for the third consecutive time, a first in the competition’s history.
