Paris's youth teams begin pre-season against their Reims counterparts

Youth football
Last Saturday, Paris Saint-Germain's male U17, U19 and U21 teams travelled to northeastern France for an intense day of pre-season action, with each age group set to play a friendly against their Stade de Reims counterparts. Whether it involved collective control, individual brilliance or lessons to be learnt, Les Rouge et Bleu showed promise as they began to lay the foundations of their upcoming campaign.

Our U17s win thanks to an attacking masterclass

The day got off to a strong start as our prolific U17s earned themselves a 5-3 victory. The enterprising young Rouge et Bleu quickly gained control of the match when Nathan Mboumba opened the scoring from a Paul Bourdin pass in the 18th minute, before Noha Tiehi netted a quickfire brace (25', 27') thanks to assists from Trevys Diasivi and from Moïse Talanga Malomba.

Although Reims reduced the deficit just after the half-hour mark, Abdel Chahyd El Mezouari would restore the capital club's three-goal lead in the 37th minute – with Tiehi turning from goal scorer into assist provider – before Mboumba bagged his second goal of the game on the stroke of half time, again thanks to an assist from Tiehi. Despite the hosts managing to pull two more goals back in the 55th and 70th minutes, Les Parisiens would hold onto their advantage until the end to cap off what had been a complete attacking performance.

An astounding turnaround for our U19s

Paris Saint-Germain's U19s also emerged as 5-3 winners from an even more topsy-turvy encounter with their SDR counterparts. The tone was set as early as in the first 120 seconds of the game, when Gaoue Ladji Matteo opened the scoring for the visitors, but Reims reacted quickly as they found themselves 2-1 up by the tenth minute. Although Les Rouge et Bleu grabbed a 22nd-minute equaliser through Slama Wassim (assisted by Idder Younes), Les Rémois retook the lead just a minute later.

In the second half, Les Parisiens stepped things up a notch as Benjamin Zulovic once again levelled matters thanks to Pierre Mounguengue's assist shortly after the hour mark, before Aymen Assab put Paris into a 4-3 lead in the 78th minute. The capital club would finally wrap things up with a minute of normal time left to play, as Mounguengue this time provided the finishing touch to a Paul Caumeil pass to round off a thrilling victory full of character and collective strength from Paris's young guard.

Our U21s get their pre-season underway in intense fashion

It didn't take Paris's U21s long to get up and running against their well-organised Reims peers, with Rayan Abo El Nay opening the scoring in just the eighth minute, but Reims would draw level in the 31st minute and then go in front on the hour mark. Despite creating several goalscoring opportunities for themselves, Les Rouge et Bleu failed to get their reward as they fell to a narrow defeat, but this game had given them plenty to ponder ahead of the rest of their pre-season preparations.

An encouraging first test for our academy sides

These three friendlies against Stade de Reims allowed the capital club's U17, U19 and U21 coaching staff to draw an initial assessment on their squads both individually and collectively, with interesting passages of play, some standout performances and, above all, a shared desire to make a strong start to the 2025–2026 season having all been on display. Their pre-season may only just be getting started, but with the foundations now in place, the future looks bright for Paris's young talent.
