Just like their elders will this evening, Paris Saint-Germain's U19 men got their European campaign underway today, as they welcomed Atalanta BC to PSG Campus for Matchday 1 of the UEFA Youth League.
Things got off to a tricky start for Les Rouge et Bleu when they conceded the game's opening goal in the 20th minute – rather against the run of play, it has to be said – through Filippo Mencaraglia. It wouldn't take them long to react, though, as Zayon Chtaï-Telamio scored an equaliser 15 minutes later, smartly opening up his foot to find the opposite corner of the net.
Les Parisiens would hit home again just three minutes before half time, when Rayan Abo El Nay cut the ball back to Quentin Ndjantou, who put his side in front with an absolute rocket of a shot. The striker continued to put on a show in the second half, too, as he both won and converted a penalty shortly before the hour mark to double Paris's lead and then bagged himself a hat trick just 10 minutes later, when Elijah Ly, who had come off the bench a little earlier, set him up to beat Atalanta keeper Mattia Sonzogni yet again.
Then, having only just come on as a substitute himself, Pierre Mounguengue got in on the act in the 78th minute to earn a stunning 5-1 victory for Les Rouge et Bleu, whose next UEFA Youth League assignment will see them travel to Catalonia to take on FC Barcelona on 1st October.
