Born on 31 July 2002 in Roskilde, Denmark, Mikkel Lovkvist made his professional debut with Fredericia HK in 2019. Two years later, he joined Bjerringbro-Silkeborg, another club in Denmark’s top flight.
He quickly established himself as one of the league’s brightest talents. After becoming a key player domestically, he made his first appearance on the continental stage during his club’s 2024-25 EHF European League campaign. In the summer of 2025, he took another step forward by joining Paris Saint-Germain Handball. In his very first season, he emerged as one of the standout revelations in the Daikin StarLigue.
The young Danish goalkeeper finished his first campaign top of the goalkeeping standings for save percentage, stopping 33.95% of the shots he faced. Initially signed until 2027, Mikkel was quickly rewarded for his strong performances with a contract extension through to 2029.
