In complete control from start to finish against Tremblay, our Rouge et Bleus secured their 13th victory in as many Liqui Moly StarLigue matches. The result saw them firm in top spot just as the first half of a season gets set to draw to a close. However, the last two matches of the year will be no walk in the park, as Stefan Madsen's men play host Limoges on Sunday 14 December (14:30) before travelling to Nantes for what promises to be a spectacular final fixture of the year at the Halle XXL.
After defeating Montpellier at Coubertin a few weeks ago, the capital club will be looking to do the same against The H, with the aim of extending their lead at the top of the table. But before that, the Rouge et Bleu will need your support against Limoges on Sunday, before coming to celebrate the end of the year with you at the traditional Paris Saint-Germain Bodega, which will be held on the court after the match. Photos, autographs, photo shoots, face painting, food trucks... Everything you need for a unique experience in the company of the players.
Absent since the end of September, Kamil Syprzak made his big comeback against Tremblay! Our pivot wasted no time at all, scoring five times in just fifteen minutes of play. The Paris-region side are a particular favourite for the Polish international, who set a new personal best for goals in a league match when he put 15 past Tremblay last season (32-38).
After being sidelined for the last five league games, Jannick Green also made his return to competition on Saturday. Despite limited playing time, our Danish goalkeeper still had time to deflect an opponent's attempt.
For the fifth consecutive league match, Mikkel Lovkvist made more than 10 saves in a game. With 68 saves in the last five games, our Dane has outperformed every other 'keeper in the division during this period, confirming his place among the best goalkeepers in the Liqui Moly StarLeague. With a save percentage of 35.05% after 13 matchdays, Lovkvist is second only to Rémi Desbonnet (36.09% in nine matches played).
With the top four teams all winning this weekend, there were no major changes in the title race. As our victorious Rouge et Bleus clinched victory to stay atop the standings, Limoges narrowly defeated Cesson-Rennes (30-31), while Nantes put on a show in Sélestat, thanks in particular to Aymeric Minne's 11 goals (33-44). In Matchday 13's final fixture, Montpellier held firm in Toulouse (27-33) and widened the gap between the top four and the rest.
The week's best performances ultimately came from Chambéry (33-30 against Chartres) and Saint-Raphaël (35-27 against Dunkerque), who both took advantage of Tremblay's defeat against the capital club to climb into 5th and 6th place respectively. At the bottom of the table, Dijon secured a crucial victory in the battle to avoid relegation against Istres (39-31), moving two points clear of the drop zone.
The penultimate matchday of the year kicks off on Friday with Montpellier travelling to Dunkerque. With just a one-point lead over second-from-bottom Istres, Dunkerque will be looking to pull off a feat to end 2025 on a high note at home. At the same time, Saint-Raphaël will take on Aix in a clash between European contenders. Later in the evening, Tremblay will try to get back on track in Chartres, while the StarMatch of the week will pit drop-zone denizens Istres and Sélestat against each other.
On Saturday, Chambéry will look to continue their good form at Le Parnasse against a Nîmes side that has struggled in the first half of the season. Toulouse, another side who have been under-performing, will look to regain confidence in Dijon, while Nantes will aim to put pressure on Paris and build their confidence against Cesson-Rennes at the Halle XXL - just a few days before playing host to the capital club.
