Three weeks after their clash with Paris FC in the Arkema Première Ligue (0-0), the Paris Saint-Germains women's team returned to action with their first match of the year at the Campus PSG, in the round of 32 of the Coupe de France féminine. For their first match in the competition, the capital club faced LOSC, who play in the Second Division.
The Parisian women quickly asserted their dominance by taking control of the game. Joe Echegini was fouled in the box, earning a penalty, but the Lille goalkeeper made a superb save to deny Romée Leuchter (9'). Moments later, Tara Elimibi Gilbert tested the opposition keeper, but without success (13').
In front of their home crowd, the Rouge et Bleue pushed forward but were thwarted by the Dogues' defence. Before the break, Merveille Kanjinga saw her shot fly just wide of the post (34'), while Joe Echegini, once again, had her goal immediately disallowed for a handball (45').
It wasn't until the second half that the Parisians made the breakthrough, thanks to a goal from Merveille Kanjinga, who this time found the target and beat Taylor Beitz for the first time in the game (1-0, 56')!
With a greater sense of freedom, Paulo César's players continued to dominate against a Lille side that struggled to get close to Katarzyna Kiedrzynek's goal. And in the dying moments of the match, Canadian international Florianne Jourde sealed Paris's victory by doubling her side's lead (2-0, 89').
Patient in attack and imperious in defence, the Parisian women have secured their place in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France, and at the same time their first win of 2026. Now it's time to focus on the league with an away trip to Dijon next Wednesday, as part of the 12th matchday of the Arkema Première Ligue season (7pm).
