Paulo César's players once again put in an impressive performance at Manchester United, before losing against the run of play (2-1). However, the Parisiennes are still in contention for qualification in a league phase of the Champions League that is more uncertain than ever. Ahead of Matchday 4, they are just three points behind Vålerenga, who occupy the final qualifying spot.
As a reminder, a place in the top 12 of this league phase would guarantee the capital club a place in the play-offs, and therefore offer them a path to the quarter-finals of the competition. In short, nothing is decided yet, and everything remains open, but a victory against Bayern Munich would be welcome to get them back on track and finish the next two matches on a high note. At home, against a strong but not invincible opponent, it would be a great opportunity to make a big impact.
Although it does not yet have the same track record or prestige as its male counterpart, Bayern Munich's women's team has been gaining momentum in recent seasons. Previously trailing Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, it has caught up and won four of the last five titles, including three in a row since 2023. However, the Bavarians have not enjoyed the same success in the Champions League so far, rarely progressing beyond the quarter-finals (two semi-finals, in 2019 and 2021).
However, the team coached by Spaniard Jose Barcala has made a good start to the European season, with two wins in three matches. Bayern are also coming off a prestigious win against European champions Arsenal (3-2), after trailing by two goals. There is cause for hope for the Parisian side: their opponents' six points have all come at home. In their only away match, the Germans were soundly beaten by Barcelona (1-7).
From the touchline during training on Tuesday 18th November, Paris coach Paulo César emphasised his players' determination to beat Bayern.
‘My players will give 100% and we will do our colours proud at the Parc des Princes, in front of our supporters. We need to pick up points to qualify, and I'm confident we can do it. It will come down to our performance, our play and, above all, the spirit we show on the pitch to win.’
For the first time this season, Les Rouge et Bleu women will have the opportunity to play in the Champions League at the Parc des Princes, where they will need your support for this big match. This wonderful event will be accessible to all, as the club will be running two initiatives for people with disabilities during the match:
A sensory room for people with autism or cognitive disabilities will be set up, allowing them to alternate as they wish between a seat in the stands in a quieter area and an indoor space with a view of the pitch and special facilities.
A few people will have the opportunity to test SoundX technology, a backpack system that allows people with hearing impairments to follow the match using vibrations that reproduce the sounds of the stadium.
All supporters are invited to cheer on our Rouge et Bleu, who will need a roaring stadium to overcome Bayern. Don't hesitate, there are still tickets available!
