Marquinhos: "The opportunity to win another trophy"

The Paris Saint-Germain captain answered questions from PSG TV and the media on the eve of the UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham Hotspur, which will take place on Wednesday 13 August at 9pm at the Stadio Friuli in Udine.

The start of the season

"Starting a new season after winning so much last season is really enjoyable and motivating. When we won, it was an incredible moment in my life. But the very next day, I was already thinking about what's next and winning again. We know both feelings: winning and losing in a final. And we know which one we want to feel tomorrow night."

The attitude of the squad

"It's a pleasure to start a season like this, as the winner of the last Champions League. We're getting ready to play in a final, and it's really exciting, it's the first time I'll experience this as a Paris Saint-Germain player. We are competitors, and we always want to keep winning by working even harder. That's what we do as a team, as a club. Winning is great, but we always want more. Our goal for the season is to keep fighting for every trophy and win titles, something very few teams manage to do."

The new signings

"We know that the captain plays an important role when a new player arrives, as was the case for me when I joined the club. We are there to help them and put them in the best possible conditions. New signings need to feel at home. We have a very demanding coach, so when you're not used to that, it's not easy. And that's when we have an important role to play in talking to them and explaining things. The aim is for them to adapt to the team's and the club's philosophy as quickly as possible."

The European Super Cup

"I am very proud and very happy to be here, to have the opportunity to win another trophy. It's going to be very difficult, we only resumed training a week ago, whereas Tottenham are much better prepared. But even if we're not yet at 100%, I know we'll give it our all tomorrow to try and get the result we want. I'm still hungry: I want to achieve things, help the younger players, motivate them, and make sure they move forward. We also have a coach who will continue to motivate and push us. That's how we'll put ourselves in the best possible position tomorrow to approach this match."
