Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce it has signed Lucas Chevalier. The 23-year-old French goalkeeper, who will wear the number 30, has signed with the reigning European champions until 2030.

Born in Calais on 6 November 2001, Lucas Chevalier is a pure product of northern France. He began playing football at Sporting Club Coquelles, in the town where he grew up, at the age of six, before joining AS Marck, where he played until 2014. He then signed for Lille OSC, joining the club’s youth academy at the Domaine de Luchin. Quickly promoted, the young ‘keeper made his National 2 (D4) debut in August 2018 against Épinal at the age of just 16. In 2018-19, he played 19 National 2 matches, one with the national U19s and three in the Coupe Gambardella (the French Youth Cup).

A key member of the LOSC reserve team, Lucas Chevalier played in the Youth League in 2019-20, playing the entire campaign through to the round of 32. He then played a second season in National 2, before joining the professional first-team squad as third-choice goalkeeper during the 2021 French Ligue 1 championship-winning campaign. Loaned to Valenciennes in 2021-22, he played 30 matches in Ligue 2 and was named Ligue 2 Goalkeeper of the Year. Returning to Lille in the summer of 2022, he quickly established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper, playing 35 Ligue 1 matches and keeping 12 clean sheets, confirming his status as the rising star of the French goalkeeper ranks.

The French goalkeeper continued his rise in the 2023-24 season, during which he played 44 matches for Lille, including a run to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Conference League. In Ligue 1, he had another solid season with 34 appearances and 11 clean sheets, helping LOSC finish with the second-best defence in the league behind Paris Saint-Germain. He also managed to translate his solid domestic performances onto the European stage, helping the northern club finish seventh in the overall Champions League standings.

Comfortable on his line, in one-on-one situations, and in the air, he also has excellent distribution skills, qualities that have quickly established him as one of the best shot-stoppers in the league and one of the most promising players in his position in Europe. His progress was rewarded last May with the title of Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Year at the end of season UNFP Awards, as well as a nomination for the Lev Yashin Trophy - of which he is the youngest goalkeeper ever to be nominated - which recognises the best goalkeepers of the season around the globe.

At international level, Lucas Chevalier has experienced almost everything with the France youth teams. He began his career with the U16s, before representing the U18s on four occasions and then the U20s. In 2023, he was the starting goalkeeper at the U21 European championship, and was then called up for the France senior national team for the first time in November 2024 for the Nations League matches against Israel and Italy. In May, he was among the 25 player squad called up to compete in the Nations League finals.

"Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to welcome Lucas Chevalier into our family. Lucas is one of the leading goalkeepers in France and Europe and a fantastic addition to our team - as we continue to build everything for the long-term based on the collective.”

Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President of Paris Saint-Germain

“I am a kid that is living his dream. Ever since I was small I wanted to play at the very highest level. I would like to thank the Chairman Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Luis Campos and the coach, Luis Enrique, all his coaching staff and everyone that worked hard to get me to Paris Saint-Germain. I’m really delighted to be here. I will wear this shirt with passion and ambition,”
