Four matches, four wins. As the end of the first month of competition approaches, the capital club already seems to have found its stride in this new Liqui Moly StarLigue campaign. After facing Saint-Raphaël and Nîmes in the previous two matchdays, Stefan Madsen's men faced another club from the south of France: Aix. A few days after a cruel defeat away to Szeged in the EHF Champions League (31-29), the objective was clear for the capital club: bounce back immediately with a league win to keep pace with Montpellier, who had temporarily taken top spot in the standings with victory over Limoges on Saturday.
From the outset, both teams clearly showed their desire to take control of the game and pace was intense. The defences were immediately put to the test, and it was the Parisians who shone first as Mikkel Lovkvist denied Robin Molinie from the penalty line (2': 0-1). Even in attack, the capital club's rearguard were impressive, with Yahia Omar and Wallem Peleka scoring two early goals (10': 4-6).
After a first quarter of an hour marred by technical errors and a certain passivity in defence, Aix managed to react, thanks in particular to Joze Baznik. The winner of last season's LNH Trophy for best goalkeeper made two fine saves, both from Gautier Loredon, paving the way for his side to draw level (15': 8-8).
Not for long, however, as Yahia Omar got going against his favourite Liqui Moly StarLigue victims. With 27 goal involvements against the side from Provence last season, the Egyptian international once again put on a show in the first half, scoring seven goals from as many attempts (25': 11-16).
Coming on shortly after Stefan Madsen's first time-out, Abelrahman Abdou wasted no time in adding his name to the list of Parisian scorers, continuing the capital club's dominance (28': 12-18). Despite several key absences, Paris remained in control and went into the break with a five-point lead over a Provençal side struggling to find solutions (30': 14-19).

From the restart, Stefan Madsen's men set a pace that the home side struggled to keep up with. Set pieces did not help Éric Forets' men either, with Mikkel Lovkvist saving another penalty from Robin Molinie (34': 15-20). Imperious in defence, Les Rouge et Bleu were also clinical in front of goal, putting four unanswered goals past a dismayed home side (37': 15-24).
Aix's time-out changed nothing, as the Parisians seemed to be in a state of grace. In the absence of Elohim Prandi and Kamil Syprzak, Yahia shone brightly, channelling his two teammates to put on a show at the Arena du Pays d'Aix. Powerful, efficient and with excellent game reading skills, the Egyptian was unstoppable, scoring his ninth goal from his ninth attempt (45': 16-29).
During a final quarter of an hour devoid of any suspense, Stefan Madsen's men continued to put on a show. Picking a favourite goal from the raft of worthy contenders would be difficult, but Sebastian Karlsson's lob following a splendid behind-the-back pass from Abdou certainly deserves a place on that list (49': 18-31).
In the final minutes, Karl Konan followed Noah Gaudin's lead by finding the net against his former club, bringing the capital club's scoring spree to a close. Paris thus secured a resounding victory at the Arena du Pays d'Aix and regained their confidence after a gruelling week marked by two away games in the space of a few days (60': 24-37).
There will be no Champions League action for Stefan Madsen's men next week, so the squad's next outing will be back on home turf at Coubertin to play host to Dijon on Friday. Throw-off for this Liqui Moly StarLigue Matchday 5 fixture is set for 20:00.
