In the summer of 2012, Paris Saint-Germain Handball entered a new era. Several sporting legends arrived in the French capital, including Didier Dinart and Luc Abalo, who joined an already seasoned squad featuring notable players such as Patrice Annonay, Zacharia N'Diaye and Samuel Honrubia. Halfway through this ambitious first campaign, the Rouge et Bleu management team made a big splash when they announced the signing of Daniel Narcisse, then at the peak of his career.
On 8 January 2013, the double Olympic gold medallist, double world champion and double European champion with France was announced as a Parisian player as of the following season. Fresh from being crowned Player of the Year a few months after playing a decisive role in THW Kiel's victorious Champions League campaign, Daniel Narcisse had already carved out part of his legend, but it was in Paris that he decided to write his legacy.
The man nicknamed Air France won everything there was to win with Paris Saint-Germain on the domestic scene. Four French league titles in as many seasons, three Coupes de France, two Coupes de la Ligue and three Trophées des Champions. The Rouge et Bleu legend came close to putting his team on top of Europe, scoring the decisive goal ten seconds before the buzzer in the 2017 Champions League final against Vardar Skopje, but as we know all too well, fate had a cruel outcome in store for the Parisians.
From his signing on 8 January 2013 to his swansong on 31 May 2018 against Chambéry - the club where his career began - Daniel Narcisse made history at Paris Saint-Germain Handball as well as in the greater pantheon of French sport.
