Paris
Sitting sixth after six matchdays, the capital club needs to get back on track. While there is no urgency at the moment, beating GOG on Wednesday would be a huge boost for Stefan Madsen's men, who would then draw level with the Danes. However, this inexperienced but intrepid team is determined to continue its impressive run.
Led by Oli Mittun, their Faroese star who scored nine goals in their victory at Coubertin before the international break (24-36), GOG represent a real obstacle to overcome in Group B. Ahead of a double-header against Barcelona, Les Rouge et Bleu will be keen to thwart Kasper Christensen's plans, not only to close the gap on their rivals, but also to stay ahead of seventh-placed Pelister, who sit just above the play-off zone.
The international break seems to have done our Rouge et Bleu a world of good. Back on the court last Saturday for an away game in Toulouse, Stefan Madsen's men managed to avoid the trap, continuing their flawless run in the league. Beyond the victory, several players turned in remarkable performances.
In addition to Yahia Omar, the undisputed man of the match with 10 goals and 10 assists (which notably allowed him to reach the 300-goal mark in all competitions with Paris), Mathieu Grébille confirmed his return to top form. With six goals, the left winger recorded his best performance in the league with Paris since his arrival in 2020. Finally, Elohim Prandi was not to be outdone - he also bagged six goals, which saw him reach 700 top-flight goals in Rouge et Bleu.
A few hours after the clash between our Rouge et Bleu and GOG, Zagreb will have the tough task of travelling to Magdeburg, with the aim of claiming their first points of the group stage. At the same time, Pelister will try to end their run of five consecutive European defeats by getting a result in Szeged. On Thursday, the matchday will conclude with a bumper clash between Barcelona and Plock. After suffering a heavy defeat at home to the Blaugrana before the break (24-34), the Poles will be looking to cause an upset in the Catalan capital.
This opening match of EHF Champions League Matchday 7 will be broadcast live on Eurosport from 18:45.
