From the early afternoon, 150 journalists from France, Mexico, England, Brazil, Italy, Spain and beyond, gathered at the PSG Campus for a “Media Day” organised ahead of the UEFA Champions League final. Cameras, microphones and teams of journalists all testament to the growing status of Les Rouges et Bleu.
The first highlight of the day was Luis Enrique’s press conference. Speaking to the media, the Parisian manager addressed the press just days before one of the season’s most important fixtures: “When we reach the final stages of the season, the players are more mentally than physically tired, especially after a season like the one we’ve had. We need to create the best possible conditions for them when they come to training, so that they can work, but also so that they’re happy to come and work. Rest is also an integral part of preparation, especially when we’re playing matches like these.”
Following the press conference, attention then turned to the pitch at the PSG Campus, where the Parisians were continuing their preparations.
In front of the cameras and media attention, training was high intensity, like always. With a massive match on the horizon, every session takes on its own unique importance. The team is fine-tuning the details and continuing to build momentum with its perennial focus and high standards.
Observed by the many journalists present, the session once again illustrated the spirit driving Les Rouges et Bleu as they approach the final: concentration, commitment and determination.
The day also gave several Paris players the opportunity to speak to the media with various interviews organised. These exchanges offered further insight into the atmosphere within the squad: an ambitious group fully focused on the task ahead, as Matvey Safonov confirmed in an interview with PSG TV: “Of course, everyone is thinking about this final and the next ten days will be very interesting. But I think we also need to stay calm. We need to stay focused on the match, but also remain calm during our preparations. We must continue to work as usual whilst making the most of this extra time to prepare for this very important match.”
The countdown has now begun. And as Budapest draws nearer, preparations continue at the PSG Campus with the same ambition and high standards as always.
