Paris Saint-Germain are through to the last eight for the 10th time in their history and the ninth in the QSI era. Only Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona have done better since 2011.
It is also the fourth successive time Paris have secured progress at the expense of an English club (Liverpool, Aston Villa, Arsenal, Chelsea), and they scored eight times against the Blues: their best tally at this stage of the competition.
To boot, it was also the club's 100th Champions League/European Cup win.
The result also shows the Parisians' collective solidity. Luis Enrique's men boast an impressive 68.4% win ratio in the Champions League (13 wins from 19 games), the best ratio for a coach at the same club in the history of the competition (min. 15 games).
In London, the Parisians quickly imposed themselves with two goals in the first 15 minutes, and established a platform for their third successive away win in all competitions.
Once again, Paris' difference-makers stood up to be counted. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia took his goal involvements to 11 (7 goals, 4 assists) in the competition this season, a tally only Ousmane Dembélé has bettered at the club in recent seasons.
Bradley Barcola continued his excellent form with a goal in his fourth consecutive competitive outing, the first such streak of his career. Meanwhile, Senny Mayulu's fourth Champions League goal puts him among the most prolific players of his generation in the competition.
In the intense atmosphere of Stamford Bridge, Paris Saint-Germain showed their character to secure their last-eight place and were supported all the way through by the fans who will be needed again as the quality steps up another level in the quarter-finals.
