By scoring four goals without reply in their first game at the Club World Cup, Luis Enrique's men set their stall out early, with Fabián Ruiz's superb, 19th-minute opener followed by goals from Vitinha (45'+1), Senny Mayulu (87') and Lee Kang-in (90'+7). Thanks to this dominant victory, Paris Saint-Germain earned a third straight win without conceding across all competitions – having previously beaten Reims 3-0 and Inter Milan 5-0 – and thereby equalled the team's longest such streak under Enrique's management. This was also Les Parisiens' tenth win in an international tournament in 2025, which beats the club's previous highest number of victories in international competitions across a calendar year (nine in 1994).
Although Luis Enrique spoke about the heat being a factor in this match, Les Rouge et Bleu's midfielders were on pretty hot form themselves. As well as scoring his eighth goal of the season and being named as the Player of the Match yesterday, the aforementioned Vitinha achieved a pass completion rate of 98.3% (112/114), which is the highest such percentage for a Paris Saint-Germain midfielder with at least 100 passes attempted in a game since Leandro Paredes's rate of 99% (101/102) against Bordeaux in Ligue 1 in March 2022.
Meanwhile, thanks to his opener, Ruiz netted his sixth goal of 2024–2025 across all competitions for Paris, which is as many as he had managed in his first two campaigns in the French capital combined (three goals scored in both 2022–2023 and 2023–2024). The Spanish midfielder has also scored more goals from outside the penalty area this season (three) than any other Paris Saint-Germain player.
Following his memorable goal in Munich on 31st May, our young midfielder got himself on the scoresheet once again yesterday, this time courtesy of Ibrahim Mbaye's assist. Mayulu has now racked up four goal involvements in his last five games (scoring three and assisting in one), and, at just 19 years and 29 days old, the Paris Saint-Germain academy graduate has also become the youngest European player ever to score at the Club World Cup, thereby dethroning the previous record holder, Nicolas Anelka, who scored at the 2000 edition of the tournament when he was 20 years and 297 days old.
