Biography

Born in Tbilisi (Georgia) on February 12, 2001, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia joined his local club, Dinamo Tbilisi, at the age of 11 in 2012. The young left winger climbed through the academy ranks before making his Erovnuli Liga (Georgian championship) debut in September 2017, delivering an assist in a match against Kolkheti 1913 Poti.

On March 20, 2018, he joined FC Rustavi on a free transfer before being loaned to Lokomotiv Moscow in 2019 for half a season. Seeking more playing time, he signed for Rubin Kazan in the summer of 2019, where he emerged as one of the most promising talents in the Russian league, scoring 9 goals and providing 18 assists in 73 appearances. The following year, he continued to impress at Dinamo Batumi, with 8 goals and 2 assists in just 11 matches.

Kvaratskhelia’s meteoric rise continued with a major career step in July 2022, when he joined SSC Napoli. Right from the first month of competition, his performances earned him the Serie A Player of the Month award for August 2022, with a goal and an assist against Hellas Verona and a brace versus AC Monza. On the European stage, he also delivered an assist in his UEFA Champions League debut against Liverpool.

He became a Serie A champion in his first season, helping Napoli end a 33-year title drought. He was named Serie A Player of the Season, Top Assist Provider, and Best Young Player in the UEFA Champions League, finishing 17th in the Ballon d’Or rankings — a true reflection of his immense talent. During his time in Naples, he made 107 appearances, scoring 30 goals and delivering 29 assists across all competitions, becoming a standout in his position.

Now a Paris Saint-Germain player and the first Georgian in the club’s history (raising the number of nationalities represented at the club to 50), he is also a mainstay in his national team, having been a regular for the past 6 years. After progressing through Georgia’s youth ranks, he made his senior debut on June 7, 2019, against Gibraltar. Today, the left winger boasts 40 international caps, with 17 goals and 9 assists. Recently selected for UEFA Euro 2024, he played a key role in Georgia’s historic run to the Round of 16.
