A high-stakes night at the AccorArena! Paris Saint-Germain Handball played host to their closest rivals from Nantes for a top-of-the-table clash that could decide the Liqui Moly StarLigue title. The situation was clear for Stefan Madsen’s men: a win would see them crowned Champions of France for a 13th time. Les Rouge et Bleus' mission was clear, but Nantes would be determined to win and reclaim top spot with two matchdays left to play. A clash of the titans in the capital!
In a sweltering stadium, it was a real battle right from the opening moments of the match. Just days after their defeat in this same arena against Montpellier in the Coupe de France final, the Nantes side were out to hit back and duly made a strong start to the match (8': 3-5). Thanks to a strong spell, the Parisians regained their composure as the minutes ticked by and drew level with the visitors (14': 6-6).
It was a duel of frenzied intensity between the two sides, both determined to go blow for blow. Aggressive and disciplined, both defences held firm (21': 8-8), with Mikkel Lovkvist proving decisive on several occasions. Unfortunately, at half-time, it was Nantes who had taken a slight lead, but Les Rouge et Bleu were far from having had their final say in a match that lived up to all its promise (30': 12-13).
Right after the re-start, our goalkeeper made a crucial save, and the home side immediately closed the gap on the visitors. The match resumed at a frenetic pace, with Elohim Prandi scoring two superb goals to keep the score level. Moments later, from a seven-metre throw, Ferran Solé put the Parisians ahead (39': 18-17).
Following a lightning-fast break by Luc Steins, Les Rouge et Bleu managed to pull ahead for the first time (42': 20-18). The intensity of the match ramped up as the explosive final 15 minutes approached. The back-and-forth became frantic, each team scoring goal after goal. With ten minutes to go, the capital club were in front - but only just (50': 26-25).
Mikkel’s 11th save brought some relief to the Parisian crowd during a final phase that had turned into a gladiatorial clash (53': 28–26). The dying minutes were completely frenzied, but Ferran Solé emerged to give his side a four-goal cushion amid an electric atmosphere (56': 30–26). Despite being on the back foot, The H had not yet expended their last reserves of strength in this battle at the AccorArena.
In a breathless atmosphere, Yahia Omar dashed the opponents’ hopes in the dying seconds. At the end of a spectacular and nail-biting match, Paris secured victory over their closest rivals. For the 13th time in club history, Paris Saint-Germain Handball were crowned Champions of France and could celebrate in style with their supporters (60': 34-31)
Elohim Prandi: nine goals; Ferran Solé and Yahia Omar: seven; Kamil Syprzak: six; Luc Steins: four; Wallem Peleka: one. Mikkel Lovkvist: 14 saves.
Having secured the league title, Paris have two matches left to play, starting with a trip to Chambéry on Tuesday 2 June (20:00). Les Rouge et Bleu will then wrap up the season in front of their home crowd at Coubertin against Tremblay on Saturday 6 June 2026 (20:30).
