After two months without playing in Europe's top competition, Les Rouge et Bleu were eager to continue their epic journey. After an exciting first half of the season, Stefan Madsen's men were keen to step up a gear and secure the highest possible ranking ahead of the play-offs, which will take place in March.
The mission could not have been accomplished any better at the Zagreb Arena! From the first minute to the last, our Rouge et Bleu played out of their skins to clinch two precious points in the race for the play-offs. By half-time, things were looking good for Stefan Madsen's men (30': 10-18).
Among the commendable performances, Jannick Green's was impossible to miss! With 18 saves, our goalkeeper broke his record for saves in a Champions League match for Paris. His personal record had stood since 2022, his first season with the capital club. At the time, it was GOG who fell victim to the Danish wall. Facing his compatriots, Jannick Green saved 17 shots to lead his team to a spectacular victory (41-36).
Against Zagreb, the Parisian goalkeeper never gave the home side any hope. After less than ten minutes of play, he had already saved three shots. At half-time, the figures were even more staggering, with ten saves from 20 Croatian shots - that's a save rate of 50%. After making nine saves against Saran in the Coupe de France and 15 saves against Dunkerque, Jannick continued his colourful start to the year.
Yahia Omar's perfect performance
On top Jannick Green's performance in defence, the offensive sector also fired. Yahia Omar top scored for Paris, converting all seven of his attempts. The Egyptian international continued his momentum from the Africa Cup of Nations, where he was crowned top scorer and best player of the tournament.
Next week, our Rouge et Bleu will play host to Szeged at Coubertin. The Hungarians lost to Barcelona on Wednesday, allowing the capital club to close the gap to two points. If Stefan Madsen's men want to overtake their rivals in the standings, they will need to turn in the same kind of performance they did against Zagreb. Beaten by two goals in the reverse fixture at the Pick Arena, the Parisians are not in a favourable position and will need to win in style with only two games left to play. The stage is set, and Les Rouge et Bleu will need your support for this big match at Coubertin, which throws off at 20:45 on Thursday 26 February!
