Four days after winning 2-0 away at Lens, Paris Saint-Germain returned to Ligue 1 action for the 34th and final matchday of the season. On the agenda for the Parisians was a derby at the Stade Jean-Bouin, just a few metres from the Parc des Princes, against Paris FC. After officially receiving the 2026 French Ligue 1 trophy in front of a away stand packed with Rouge et Bleu supporters, Luis Enrique’s men began their final domestic outing of the season.
Bradley Barcola fired the first shot in anger, testing Kevin Trapp (2’). The hosts responded as Moses Simon cut inside onto his right foot and unleashed a powerful shot that Matvey Safonov blocked (8’). The game turned into a midfield battle and it wasn’t until the half-hour mark that a dangerous Vitinha free-kick threatened to break the deadlock (32’). The home side fought back through Jonathan Ikoné, who fired just over on his left foot (38’).
The champions quickly made the breakthrough at the start of the second half after good work by Fabian Ruiz down the left and a first-time finish by Bradley Barcola at the far post (0-1, 49’)! Paris Saint-Germain looked in control, even if Matvey Safonov needed two attempts to save Alimami Gory’s powerful shot from the right (72’). The PFC No.7 then managed to equalise by turning home a shot from his teammate and captain Pierre Lees-Melou (1-1, 76’).
Following a one-two between Fabian Ruiz and Dro Fernandez, Joao Neves failed to hit the target (83'). Ibrahim Mbaye saw his shot blocked (85’), before Fabian Ruiz had another chance for the visitors (90’). In the end, it was Antoine Kombouaré’s side who snatched victory in the dying seconds, thanks to a counter-attack led by Luca Koleosho and finished by Gory (2-1, 90+4’).
The defeat does nothing to take away from an outstanding Ligue 1 campaign for Luis Enrique's men that saw Les Rouge et Bleu claim a 14th French championship and a fifth in a row. Attentions now turn to the final game of the 2025-26 season: the Champions League final against Arsenal, on 30 May at the Puskás Arena in Budapest. The countdown is on!
Allez Paris!
