Who will join the France national football team in the semi-finals? France had qualified the day before by defeating Morocco national football team 2-0, notably thanks to another goal from Ousmane Dembélé.
La Roja, the reigning European champions, got off to a good start thanks to their Parisian midfielder Fabián Ruiz. Fabian followed up on a shot by Dani Olmo that had been parried by Thibaut Courtois and scored with his right foot to open the scoring (1-0, 30'). The Red Devils responded and equalised through Charles De Ketelaere, who scored with a header ten minutes later (1-1, 41'). It was not until the closing moments of regulation time that Fabian’s teammates finally gained the upper hand. Mikel Merino followed up on a shot that had been saved by Senne Lammens, who had replaced Courtois shortly before, to send his team into the final four (2-1, 88').
Spain and France are set to meet on Tuesday 14 July 2026 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington (Dallas), at 21:00, for a place in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
