On 27 May, Paris overcame the biggest challenge of their end-of-season campaign. In front of thousands of supporters at the AccorArena, Les Rouge et Bleu managed to see off a strong Nantes side that had been a formidable second-placed team throughout the Liqui Moly StarLigue season. A hard-fought 34-31 victory secured the capital club’s 13th French league title, their 12th in a row.
Having secured this well-deserved trophy, Stefan Madsen’s men are not yet satisfied, with two matches remaining to round off the season in style. With just a few days to go before the final celebration at Coubertin, Paris have one last away trip to negotiate - a tricky one away to Chambery. The objective is clear: to remain unbeaten in the league and maintain their incredible run in 2026 (13 wins in 13 StarLigue matches).
Having already secured the league title, Paris will face a side locked in a fierce battle for a top-five finish in the league – and thus a place in Europe for next season. Chambéry currently sit a mere two points ahead of Saint-Raphaël and, thanks to a favourable head-to-head record, would secure their European spot with a win against Les Rouge et Bleu.
Asier Antonio’s men are capable of some formidable feats this season, as they proved once again last time out with victory away to Limoges (35-37), despite the hosts being in the running for a podium finish. The Savoyards have already caused problems for the capital club in recent seasons and are hoping to pull off a major upset against the freshly crowned champions, looking to their key players.
With the sixth-best attack in the league, Chambéry have the attacking weapons to unsettle Les Rouge et Bleu, starting with formidable seven-metre throw taker Elio Zammit. The French left-winger has scored a staggering 155 goals this season (seventh-highest scorer in the StarLigue), including 98 from penalties. The Parisian defenders will need to be wary of a team that loves a fight.
Centre-half Lucas Vanegue will also be one of the spearheads of the Savoyard attack, having scored no fewer than 143 goals this season. And whilst Chambéry’s defence is far from being the division's best (11th out of 16 for goals conceded), they can count on their excellent goalkeeper Valentin Kieffer, who sits third on the saves chart (283 saves, 31.4% save percentage). Paris has been warned: in both defence and attack, Chambéry have clear strengths to contend with in this match.
At the same time as Paris and Chambéry face off, Limoges will be looking to put pressure on Montpellier by securing a win away at Dunkerque, who have all but secured their survival. The fierce battle for survival will be played out at distance between Chartres and Istres, who face Nîmes and Aix respectively, whilst a big clash will take place between Dijon, 15th, and Sélestat, 13th and two points ahead.
The following day, the focus will shift to the top of the table, with Montpellier keen to retain third by beating Toulouse. Away at Tremblay, Saint-Raphaël must win to keep their European hopes alive, whilst Nantes, now assured of second place, will play away to Cesson-Rennes.
