Born on 3 June 1995, Karl Konan began playing handball in 2009 with Entente Sportive de Bingerville in his native Côte d’Ivoire. In 2014, he joined the Pays d’Aix Université Club Handball academy before signing his first professional contract a year later.
Over the seasons, Karl Konan established himself as a reference in his position and was named the French league’s best defender in 2019. Called up to the France senior team for the first time in 2021, he took another step forward a year later by joining Montpellier.
A European champion with France in 2024, he won the first trophy of his career in 2025 by beating the capital club in the Coupe de France final. He also reached the EHF European League final with MHB that year before joining Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.
In his first campaign in Rouge et Bleu colours, he quickly became a pillar of the squad. A commanding presence at the heart of the defence, he played a major role in Stefan Madsen’s side’s historic season as they finished the league campaign unbeaten.
