As this new Liqui Moly StarLigue campaign draws to a close, the traditional LNH Awards ceremony is set to honour those who have provided the entertainment throughout a colourful season. The organisers have thus highlighted the quality of the entire French league, with 11 of the 16 top-flight clubs having at least one player in the running for a trophy. In the midst of their title race with Nantes, Paris Saint-Germain are particularly well represented, with four members of the squad nominated in various categories.
A true mainstay of the top-flight’s best defence, Karl Konan is in the running to retain his trophy for best defender of the season, which he won last season while playing for MHB. Also in the back line, Elohim Prandi and Yahia Omar have been nominated for best left-back and best right-back respectively, in recognition of their contributions in both attack and defence.
In attack, Ferran Solé Sala has been decisive on 102 occasions so far (98 goals, four assists). This puts him among the three finalists for the title of best right winger of the season. The Spaniard will be up against former Parisian David Balaguer, who is also in the running, and rising Chambéry star Emilien Peyronnet.
It is worth noting that all players nominated for these LNH awards are also in the running for the title of Player of the season. Voting, which opened on Friday morning, will close on Sunday 31 May. As was the case last season, the ceremony will be open to the public and will take place at the Théâtre Marigny.
