Les Parisiennes held to draw by Brighton in second pre-season friendly

Eight days after beginning their preparations for the 2026–2027 season with a 1–1 draw at home to newly promoted Première Ligue side US Saint-Malo, Paris Saint-Germain’s women were back in friendly action today, this time in the English county of East Sussex, as they faced their Brighton & Hove Albion counterparts at the American Express Stadium.
The hosts, meanwhile, were making their first pre-season outing ahead of a ninth consecutive campaign in the Women’s Super League.

It was Paulo César’s players who registered the opening shot of the encounter in the ninth minute, when Naomie Feller fired just over the crossbar after a quick Paris transition.
Les Parisiennes would eventually make their attacking threat count in the 37th minute, as Romée Leuchter’s low cross from the left found Alyssa Charlier, who neatly tapped the ball home from close range to open the scoring. Although Brighton carved out a couple of half-chances not long afterwards, the scoreline remained 1–0 to the visitors as the two teams made their way back to the changing rooms.
Having returned to the pitch with an entirely changed XI, Dario Vidošić’s side put Paris under increased pressure in the second half, as demonstrated by American forward Madison Haley, who dragged a shot narrowly wide of Katarzyna Kiedrzynek’s left-hand post a few minutes after the restart. Following a raft of substitutions from Paulo César on the hour mark, Les Rouge et Bleue stayed resolute in the face of Albion’s unrelenting attacks until the 85th minute, when Maisie Symonds found the back of the net with a low free kick from the edge of the box.
Although the capital club’s women were unable to find a winner between then and the final whistle, they can take encouragement from a solid performance against one of the mainstays of the English top flight, as well as putting 90 more minutes into the tank ahead of their return to PSG Campus for a friendly against Union Berlin next Saturday (15th August).
