Still in contention on all domestic fronts, with a fourth-place position in the league and a Coupe de France quarter-final to be played in Dijon on 19 March, the club from the capital has the opportunity to win its first trophy of the season as early as this Saturday in the Coupe de la Ligue final.
Launched this season by the Professional Women’s Football League, the competition has so far been kind to the Parisians. Entering the tournament at the quarter-final stage due to their participation in the UEFA Women’s Champions League earlier this season, Paulo César’s players had little trouble against Évian Thonon Grand Genève FC, a Seconde Ligue side, winning 3–0.
In the next round, it was Paris FC who fell victim to the excellent start to the year by the Rouge et Bleues. Comfortable 3–0 winners at the Campus, the Parisians secured their ticket to Abidjan, where the final will take place this Saturday.
In the final, Paris will face OL Lyonnes in another top-level clash, this time with a trophy at stake. The day after a valuable victory in Le Classique against Olympique de Marseille (2–1), the Parisian players left the capital on Thursday morning, landing in Abidjan shortly after 16:00 (17:00 French time).
Paulo César and his players then headed to their hotel, where they were welcomed by a group of supporters, members of the Parisian fan club in Côte d’Ivoire.
The Parisian players will discover the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium, the venue for the final, on Friday during their pre-match training session. This will be followed by the traditional press conference with Paulo César alongside one of the players.
On Saturday, kick-off will take place at 17:30 local time (18:30 French time). The match will be broadcast live by L’Équipe. Throughout this trip, follow our women’s team across the various Paris Saint-Germain channels!
