With just four days between Les Parisiens’ historic UEFA Super Cup win on penalties over Tottenham Hotspur and their trip to Nantes on Matchday 1 of the 2025–2026 Ligue 1 season, Luis Enrique and his men certainly couldn’t waste much time processing the emotions of their previous campaign, which will remain etched in the club’s history forevermore, as almost immediately after lifting their fifth trophy of 2024–2025, Les Rouge et Bleu were beginning the hunt for their first title of the new term.
Following a pair of 1-0 victories (over Nantes and Angers respectively), Paris truly got up and running away to Toulouse, where they scored three goals in an unprecedented opening quarter of an hour before eventually winning the game with a tennis-esque scoreline of 6-3. Upon their return to the Parc des Princes after the first international break of the season, Les Parisiens further turned up the style with a crucial 2-0 triumph over Lens thanks to a brace from Bradley Barcola.
The busy schedule of Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League matches – combined with the meagre recovery time that Les Rouge et Bleu had enjoyed between the end of the FIFA Club World Cup and the start of the new domestic campaign – has occasionally halted Luis Enrique’s men in their tracks in 2025–2026, but they have never let up, as demonstrated their stoppage-time wins at home to Nice (1-0) and away to Lyon (3-2) in November. Currently second in the Ligue 1 table and one point behind Lens, the capital club will have to fight hard until the very last day in order to maintain its domination of the French men’s top flight.
That domination was reflected in Les Parisiens’ final game on home soil of 2025 – a 5-0 thumping of Rennes on Matchday 15 of Ligue 1 – which was their biggest home league victory since their 6-0 thrashing of Montpellier at the Parc in August 2024.
17 of the 23 players that Luis Enrique has used in the league this season have found the back of the net, which is the highest total of its kind in Ligue 1.
Les Parisiens have scored five goals in the first 15 minutes of their matches so far in 2025–2026, with no other team in the division currently boasting a higher tally in this respect.
Having netted at least once in each of their last 40 Ligue 1 games at the Parc des Princes, Les Rouge et Bleu have set a new record for their longest-ever streak of this kind.
Unsurprisingly, Les Parisiens' recent successes are partially due to their solidity and togetherness as a group, regardless of the obstacles that have been put in their way. In fact, Luis Enrique hasn't hesitated to call upon every member of his squad at one point or another, including even the club's academy players, who are the keenest of all to prove their worth.
Across the first half of the current Ligue 1 season, both Mathis Jangeal and Quentin Ndjantou have been given the opportunity to make their professional debuts for Paris Saint-Germain, while Noah Nsoki and David Boly were also thrown in at the deep end in the Coupe de France last-64 tie against Vendée Fontenay Foot last Saturday. As a result, these youngsters have enjoyed the chance to grow alongside their elders, who are also shining individually, not least Vitinha. At the halfway point in the campaign, the Portugal international is Les Rouge et Bleu's top assist provider, with six passes provided for his teammates' goals.
