2-7, Paris Saint-Germain's biggest away win in the UEFA Champions League equalled! Les Rouge et Bleu have now matched their performances away to RSC Anderlecht (0-5 on 23/10/2013), Malmö FF (0-5 on 25/11/2015), Celtic FC (0-5 on on 12/09/2017) and Club Brugge KV (0-5 on 22/10/2019). The capital club also scored more than five goals in an away game in the competition for the first time, becoming only the third French team to score seven goals away from home in the competition.
This is the fifth 7-2 result in Champions League history, three of which were achieved by Paris Saint-Germain (against Rosenborg BK on 24th October 2000, against Maccabi Haifa FC on 25th October 2022 and now on Tuesday evening)! Bayer Leverkusen has now become the first German club in history to concede seven goals at home in European competition, and has also conceded seven goals at home for the first time in its history.
In Leverkusen, Paris Saint-Germain won their 12th Champions League match in 2025 (with two defeats), equalling Real Madrid CF in 2014 and FC Bayern Munich in 2001 as the teams with the most wins in a calendar year in the competition. Across all major European competitions, only Atlético Madrid in 2012 has done better (13 wins in the UEFA Europa League).
During these 14 matches, the Parisians scored 38 goals, setting a new record in the competition for a calendar year, ahead of Manchester United FC in 2002 (37 goals). Impressive stuff, especially as Les Rouge et Bleu still have three matches left to improve on this tally! The capital club, which has taken at least temporary pole position in the league table with three wins in three matches, has also won its last six Champions League matches, equalling its best run in the group stage or league phase of the competition, dating back to its first six matches in the 1994-1995 season.
On his return to competition, Ousmane Dembélé made his 100th appearance in all competitions for Paris Saint-Germain and, to celebrate the occasion in style, found the back of the net just three minutes after coming on as a substitute.
The French international, who now has 44 goals and 28 assists for Paris, has joined Angel Di Maria in the top five players with the most goal contributions in their first 100 appearances for the club since Opta began recording this data (1996–1997). He has scored or assisted in each of his last seven UEFA Champions League matches.
