“We’re champions, and we knew how difficult this match would be. I’m a bit disappointed, because I expected much more from my players and today’s performance was very poor. A first half with no purpose, no ambition and no rhythm. It’s difficult to win a match here; we knew how tough it would be before the game. We knew what the objective was tonight. I think our players should have overcome this lack of motivation and played differently. The easy thing in this sort of match is to lack motivation. But I was hoping for much more from my players, and that’s why I’m a bit annoyed, frustrated and disappointed.”
“It wasn’t the result we were looking for, nor the performance we wanted today. There are still things we need to work on; we mustn’t let our morale or our energy drop now. We have a very important objective in two weeks’ time, and we’ll see what the manager has to say. He’ll give us a telling-off, that’s for sure, because in terms of performance, commitment and the final result, there are lessons to be learnt from this match.
"But we’ve still got an exciting end to the season ahead, and even though we lost today, we still have a great goal to go for. As I said, our energy needs to be better over the next two weeks. We’ll use these two weeks of training to get motivated, to go out and win that final title and realise our dream of securing that second Champions League star.”
