Karl Konan, a native of Cocody (Ivory Coast), began playing handball in 2009 with the Entente Sportive de Bingerville. He moved to France in 2014 to join the training academy of Pays d’Aix Université Club Handball. A year later, the 29-year-old left back — known especially for his defensive qualities — signed his first professional contract with the club that developed him.
He was named the best defender in the league in 2019. A few years later, he joined Montpellier Handball. He has now played 227 matches and scored 275 goals in the Liqui Moly Starligue.
A French international, the new Parisian earned his first cap on May 2, 2021, against Greece (46–30), and was selected for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. He currently has 42 caps and 7 goals with Les Bleus.
