Emil Mellegård began his professional career with Redbergslids IK in Sweden before joining the German club Wetzlar. After four years in the Bundesliga, he signed with the Danish team HØJ Elite, which he left at the end of the 2024–2025 season to join the Parisian squad.
With the Swedish national team, the left winger—who can also defend as a back—won the 2022 European Championship title and has earned 21 caps to date.
