The capital club's top scorer in the league with 118 goals, Yahia Omar has reached a milestone in his second season in a Les Rouge et Bleu shirt. With each passing month, the recent African champion has gone from strength to strength. As the new league campaign draws to a close, the highlights continue to pile up, the Egyptian star unsurprisingly attracting the attention of the authorities and the public alike.
In March, Yahia played a major role in Paris' four wins in as many games. Against Dijon (27-34), it was his team play that stood out, with seven assists and three goals. A week later, it was Montpellier (30-32) who bore the brunt of Omar's brilliance as he proved decisive in 14 of Les Rouge et Bleus' 32 goals ( eight goals, six assists). It was the same story the following week, when Stefan Madsen's men produced a perfect performance against Toulouse (39-21), Omar racking up five goals and nine assists. Finally, it was at Le Parnasse in Nîmes, in a particularly gruelling match (33-34), that he ended March on a high with nine goals and seven assists.
In all, with 25 goals and 29 assists, Yahia Omar was involved in 54 of Paris Saint-Germain Handball's 139 goals across their four games in March, representing a 39% involvement rate over the period. An outstanding performance from a player who has become indispensable in Stefan Madsen's system.
