Stats and facts: A look back at the win over Angers
A win against a united Angers side
For their big return to the Parc des Princes, the Rouge et Bleu were determined to secure a second straight victory after their trip to Nantes (0-1). In front of a sold-out crowd for the 166th consecutive time, Paris Saint-Germain hosted Angers, who had also won the previous weekend (1-0 vs Paris FC). Dominating possession with 83.3% (a record since November 2024 - 84.1% vs Nantes), Paris struggled to find a breakthrough before Fabian Ruiz opened the scoring early in the second half.
Fabian Ruiz - Man of the Match
Thanks to his well-placed low strike that sealed Paris Saint-Germain’s 1-0 victory (50’), the Spaniard was named Man of the Match. On Friday, Fabian Ruiz scored his fourth goal in 10 matches, as many as in his previous 51 appearances.
The Paris defence
Another clean sheet for Luis Enrique’s men: Paris Saint-Germain recorded two in the first two Ligue 1 matchdays for the first time since the 2017–2018 season. Angers managed only three shots in the game, none of them were on target. Struggling to create chances, the visitors registered just four touches inside the Parisian box. On his home debut, Lucas Chevalier did not have to make a single save.
A grand finale of trophies
This second matchday of Ligue 1 was also marked by a post-match ceremony to celebrate the European Super Cup champions. Marquinhos and his teammates presented at the Parc des Princes the five trophies won this season: the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Champions.
