Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, one of the most renowned academic institutions in the world, is set to publish an academic case study on the sporting and business success of Paris Saint-Germain. The academic paper – a publication that it is rarely commissioned, only in examples of noteworthy success – is set to be released next month, following over six months of detailed research by the University’s professors, led by Professor George Foster, the University’s Konosuke Matsushita Professor of Management.
The 50-page case study will particularly focus on the strategic shift of Paris Saint-Germain as a super club, moving from “stars to system” and the “individual to the collective”, chronicling the evolution of the Club over recent years based on unique insights, data and testimony from both inside and outside the Club. The study looks at the catalysts behind the change in PSG’s strategy that resulted in its historic, sextuple 6-trophy winning year in 2025 – being only the second club ever to win the UEFA Champions League, the domestic league and domestic cup and champions trophy, together with the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Intercontinental Cup – while also looking ahead to the Club’s future plans and prospects, particularly the development of young home-grown players at PSG’s academy, and the continued business and sporting diversification of the Club under QSI including possibly into basketball.
Ahead of the study’s publication next month, Paris Saint-Germain Président, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, last Friday visited Stanford University’s campus to meet the professors and researchers behind the academic paper, and give an honorary lecture to the Graduate School of Business students. Condoleezza Rice, former US Secretary of State and The Denning Professor in Global Business and the Economy of Stanford University also attended the lecture, during which the more-than 70 students present had the opportunity to take photos with the UEFA Champions League trophy.
President Al-Khelaïfi’s lecture at Stanford University has followed similar appearances over recent months at La Sorbonne University in Paris and at the World Economic Forum in Davos, aimed at inspiring young students and engaging with international business leaders around the successes and future ambitions of Paris Saint-Germain.
