From Virgil Abloh's very first trip to Paris, he felt a natural bond with Paris Saint-Germain, based on a shared belief that sport and culture can be used as powerful levers for social change.
For the last 25 years, PSG for Communities has provided guidance for young people through its educational, sporting and social initiatives. The Virgil Abloh Foundation, which perpetuates the late designer’s vision, opens the doors to the creative industries by offering mentorships, grants and opportunities to under-represented young talents.
A first activation at the "Virgil Abloh: The Codes" exhibition
On Saturday 4th October, 25 young people from PSG For Communities’ École Rouge & Bleu and Allez les Filles programmes were treated to a unique experience at the Grand Palais. They took part in workshops combining culture and creativity, customising Paris Saint-Germain shirts and footballs in a tribute to Virgil Abloh’s artistic style.
A shirt designed to be a cultural bridge
To mark the launch of their collaboration, the two organisations are unveiling a limited edition shirt designed by Virgil Abloh Archive™, which will be worn by Paris Saint-Germain players during their match against Lille on Sunday, October 5.
Inspired by Paris Saint-Germain’s 2024/26 away kit, it echoes the designer’s signature style. The lynx, the club’s official mascot, replaces Virgil Abloh's beloved panther, as a nod to the American tradition of sports mascots. The "AWAY FROM HOME" Helvetica lettering pays tribute to his creative heritage in Paris, the designer’s favourite city and second home, as he shared his time between Chicago and the French capital.
More than just a sports shirt, this piece aims to be a narrative canvas and a cultural bridge between Paris and Chicago, between France and the United States, between sport and creativity. It will also be a tool for social action, as the proceeds from its sale will be shared between PSG for Communities’ École Rouge & Bleu programme, via the Paris Saint-Germain Endowment Fund, and the Virgil Abloh Foundation’s ABLOH AIR programme.
This special edition shirt is available now at store.psg.fr, and from 6th October 2025 in the official Paris Saint-Germain stores and the Colette pop-up store in the Grand Palais during the "Virgil Abloh: The Codes" exhibition. Price: 175 euros.
Virgil Abloh considered Paris to be his second home, travelling regularly between his home town of Chicago and the French capital. From the very first time he visited, he developed a strong bond with Paris Saint-Germain, nourished by a shared conviction that sport and creativity could be used to bring about positive change in the lives of young people.
"For the last 25 years, PSG for Communities has provided guidance for young people through education, sport and social impact. Thanks to the mentorship, openness and access it provides to the creative industries, the Virgil Abloh Foundation perpetuates the late designer's vision by offering opportunities to under-represented young creative talents."
"This partnership with PSG is deeply significant because it reflects everything Virgil believed in: community, creativity and encouraging young people to dream bigger and build their own future. The Virgil Abloh Foundation makes a daily commitment to this mission, and we are proud to bring it to Paris, a city that inspired and thrilled Virgil so much."
