Paris Saint-Germain are delighted to announce Paulo César has been appointed head coach of the women’s team. The Brazilian tactician has signed a contract through to 30 June 2027.

A former Paris Saint-Germain player (2002-2007), Paulo César knows both the Club’s history and values. After starting his coaching career in Brazil and then returning to France, he joined the women’s team’s technical staff in 2020 as assistant coach of the U19 team. He was appointed head coach of the U19 women’s team in 2022.

Under his leadership, the young Parisians shone this season, winning the U19 French title for the first time since 2019. He has also helped a number of young talents progress and they will now play under him with the senior side.

Last May, Paulo César enjoyed an interim spell in charge of the first team. He took the team into the Arkema Première League Play-Offs thanks to a 3-0 win over Paris FC at the Parc des Princes, which also qualified the Club for the next edition of the UEFA Women’s Champions League. He also took the team to third place in the World Sevens Football friendly tournament, which was played at the end of the season in Estoril, Portugal.

His appointment illustrates the Club’s desire to develop its project with a coach that knows its values and how the women’s department works, while also promoting talents developed at the Youth Academy and all with the ambition of taking Paris Saint-Germain higher.

To be named head coach of the Paris Saint-Germain women’s team is an immense honour and the fulfilment of a goal that I’ve had for a number of years. I’m deeply attached to this club, to its values and to this department, which I have seen grow. It’s with a lot of enthusiasm and determination that I take on this role today. I’ll put all my energy and experience into this magnificent project to keep developing the team and have the Red-and-Blue colours flying high.”
