Les Rouge et Bleu were already certain of meeting Paris FC in the first week of the play-offs, however it remained to be seen who will play host. The equation was simple: record a better result than the cross-town rivals, in this final outing, to secure a home semi-final.
Les Parisiennes dominated from the outset at the Campus, and fired the first shot of the match with a vicious Kanjinga strike, that Wahl somehow managed to tip over the crossbar (24').
Just a few kilometres away, PFC were being held 2-2 at home to Lens at half-time. Paris needed a goal and it duly arrived shortly after the restart when Karchaoui picked out Mbock on the edge of the area. The central defender, who had stayed forward after a corner, controlled the ball on her chest before volleying home a sublime strike (1-0, 53').
In the end, PFC ran out comfortable 6-2 winners over Lens to hold onto their second place in the standings. But Paris Saint-Germain continued to do the job against Strasbourg and secured a deserved victory in stoppage time through the inevitable Leuchter (2-0, 90+4').
The win sees Paris Saint-Germain finish the season on a high note in third place and in fine form ahead of the crucial final weeks of the season, starting with this Sunday's Coupe de France final against OL Lyonnes in Valenciennes, before the Arkema Premiere Ligue play-offs and the semi-final away to PFC, on 16 May!
