Led by a squad of 17 judokas, combining experience at the highest international level with youthful talent, Paris Saint-Germain Judo once again demonstrated its strength by retaining its European title.
In the final, the Parisians beat Red Star Belgrade (4–3), thanks to victories by Joan-Benjamin Gaba (-73 kg), Romane Dicko (+70 kg) and Shirlen Nascimento (-57 kg). Joan-Benjamin Gaba sealed the title for PSG by winning the decisive bout. The victory was celebrated in the presence of Teddy Riner, who had come to support his team-mates, and shared with the young members of Paris Saint-Germain Judo and 50 children benefiting from the PSG for Communities programmes. The day brought the Parisian family together in support of its judo team and gave young people from the Île-de-France region the chance to experience this major European event.
Earlier in the day, the Rouge & Bleu, coached by Baptiste Leroy, first got the better of Judo Club Konar in the quarter-finals, thanks to performances from Brazil’s Shirlen Nascimento (-57 kg), Dayyan Boulemtafes (-73 kg), Romane Dicko (+70 kg) and then Manon Deketer (-70 kg) in the decisive bout. They then dominated SGS Judo in the semi-final, with points secured in succession by Clarisse Carillon (-57 kg), Dayyan Boulemtafes (-73 kg), Manon Deketer (-70 kg) and then Zelim Tckaev (-90 kg), to continue their run towards the title.
