Luka Karabatic: "We're on the right track"

Check out what Luka Karabatic and Luc Steins had to say after Paris Saint-Germain Handball's victory over Japan (30-23) in the final friendly match of the 2025 Japan Tour.

Luka Karabatic (Paris Saint-Germain Handball pivot)

"It's another step forward. We still have a week of work ahead of us before the Trophée des Champions. It was an important week for us, and not an easy one because we were away from home, but we made the most of our time together. We finished with two very good matches against a style of handball that we're less used to facing. We saw that yesterday [in the 36-35 victory over Zeekstar] - we had to work hard to win. I think we were better prepared today, which allowed us to approach the match better. We did some very good things in the first half and played with the intensity we needed. We needed to step up our game in this preparation phase. Now we have another week before we get back to it. We need to keep working on our automatisms. This is a young team that is still getting to know each other. The work isn't done yet, but we're on the right track."

Luc Steins (Paris Saint-Germain Handball centre-half)

"I think we played well, especially in the first half. We were more focused and present in defence than yesterday against Zeekstar. We conceded far fewer goals, so that's positive. We tried some new things in the second half, so we perhaps lost control of the game a little, but we have to be happy with the win. It's never easy to beat a national team. We've all worked really hard during the summer preparations. We started quite early, but it was necessary with the arrival of the new coach and lots of new players. We're on the right track, but I think we can still improve in a number of areas, and we'll continue to do so throughout the season."
