Japan Tour: An eventful first day in the Japanese capital

Our Rouge et Bleu arrived in Tokyo on Tuesday for their summer tour. Take a behind-the-scenes look at their first day in Japan.

After a long flight from Paris to Tokyo, Stefan Madsen and his men touched down on Japanese soil on Wednesday. Welcomed by dozens of Rouge et Bleu supporters, the Parisians then headed to their hotel to try and overcome their jet lag. While some players had already been to Japan on previous tours, several of our new recruits were getting their first taste of a new country and a unique culture upon arriving in the Japanese capital.

However, this tour is far from a holiday for the capital club's players, who resumed training the day after their arrival. The programme for an intense first day included a double session, with tactical training on the court followed by a weight training session.

After some time to recover at the hotel, Les Rouge et Bleu then took part in their first cultural activity of the tour: an introduction to sumo wrestling. This was an opportunity for the squad to discover this traditional Japanese sport, but also for some players, including Gauthier Loredon and Mateo Maras, to try their hand at it in a relaxed atmosphere.
