On 15 December 2024, Paris were beaten at Nantes' Halle XXL in a match largely dominated by the home side (34–31). This result saw The H move to the top of the standings on head-to-head record. Almost two years later, Les Rouge et Bleu have yet to taste defeat again in the top flight - thatr's a run of 50 matches, with its fair share of memorable moments.
Among them, of course, was the return fixture against Nantes. In a Stade Pierre de Coubertin buzzing with excitement, Les Rouge et Bleu gave their opponents no chance. Spurred on by stellar performances from Kamil Syprzak (8 from 8), Ferran Solé (7 from 8) and Yahia Omar (7 from 9), the capital club secured a comfortable victory (34–28) and reclaimed top spot in the standings, never to relinquish it again. It was a victory that launched our Parisians on a remarkable run (ten wins, one draw) tht took them ll the way to a 12th French league title a few months later.
Last season was marked by a battle fought with an intensity - and over a duration - rarely seen in the Starligue. Once again, it was Nantes who emerged as our Rouge et Bleus' biggest rivals. Both teams were unbeaten going into their clash at the end of December, and they put on a cracking show for the spectators at the Halle XXL. With the match neck and neck throughout, Nantes snatched a draw at the final buzzer with a goal from Noam Leopold (31–31). It was a heart-wrenching moment for Stefan Madsen’s men, who had led for the entire match and were five goals ahead as the final quarter of an hour approached.
Just like the previous season, however, it was only a matter of time for Paris. A few months later, the two rivals, both still unbeaten after 27 matchdays, met again at the AccorArena for a headline clash that would secure the title for Les Rouge et Bleu should they win. In front of 11,022 spectators, Paris secured victory thanks in no small part to an Elohim Prandi at the top of his game (nine goals, ten assists).
As if by fate, Stefan Madsen’s men beat Nantes by the same score as their defeat to them nearly a year and a half earlier (34–31). And, as if by fate, it was during this match that Paris set a new unbeaten record in the history of the French league (44 matches).
That run now stands at 50 matches. A new historic milestone was celebrated against Limoges, a match in which our captain, Luka Karabatic, also reached a symbolic milestone: 500 league goals scored in the Rouge et Bleu shirt. A fitting achievement for our exemplary captain who, for the past ten years, has led his team to various successes, despite facing ever-stronger opponents.
