Born on 24 January 2008 in Trappes (Yvelines), Ibrahim Mbaye is a product of the Paris region youth system. He first laced up his boots at the age of five, playing for ES Guyancourt. After three seasons at FC Versailles, he joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2018, aged just ten. Over the years, Mbaye racked up the appearances in Rouge et Bleu and in 2024, he wrote his name into the club’s history books by becoming the youngest Parisian to make his Ligue 1 debut, aged just 16 years, six months and 23 days. He still holds this record, set in the clash with Le Havre on 16 August 2024, today.
He followed up on this early success, regularly knocking on the door of the first team thereafter. In 2025, he signed his first professional contract and was voted ‘Titi d’Or’ - the award for the club's youth player of the season - by his peers. He built on this positive momentum by scoring his first goal for Paris Saint-Germain in a resounding 6–1 victory over AS Saint-Étienne on 29 March 2025. The third-youngest goalscorer in the club’s history, the Senegalese international striker was selected by Luis Enrique to represent PSG in the 2025 Club World Cup in the United States. The talented youngster seized his opportunity and played a part in Les Rouge et Bleus' run to the final of the competition.
The following season, Luis Enrique handed Mbaye his Champions League debut as the Parisians kicked off the 2025-26 campaign with a superb 4–0 victory over Atalanta. On 1 October 2025, he started on the right wing against FC Barcelona as his side claimed a 2–1 victory in Catalonia. With two Champions League titles, two European Super Cups, two French League titles, one Coupe de France and one Intercontinental Cup to his name, ‘Ib’ leaves Paris Saint-Germain with eight trophies and a wealth of experience garnered as he played a part in several of the club’s major recent successes. The club’s home-grown star made 42 appearances for the first team.
On the international stage, the young forward earned his first call-up in 2023, joining the France U16 squad ahead of a match against Wales. He continued his journey through the youth ranks up to the France U20 side before opting to represent Senegal in 2025 and taking part in the Africa Cup of Nations that same year. After scoring against Sudan in the competition’s round of 16, he reached the Africa Cup of Nations final with the Lions of Teranga. In 2026, Mbaye was selected to play in the 2026 World Cup in North America. In his first match, he scored a goal against France.
A product of the Paris Saint-Germain youth academy, Mbaye progressed through every level of the club before contributing to several major successes with the first team. Proud of his development, Paris Saint-Germain thanks the young star and wishes him every success for the rest of his professional career.
