Our young guns were on the road on Saturday 25 October, playing at Draguignan Var Handball's Carbonel arena. This top -of-the-table clash was a hard-fought affair that ended in victory for the home side (32-27), but Les Rouge et Bleu stayed in touch for a long time and were only one goal behind at half-time (16-15).
Among the positives to take away from the match was Thomas Omeyer's eight-goal haul, a performance that sawh im end the match as the Parisians' top scorer. After making his senior-team debut in Chartres recently, the young left-back is confirming his strong start to the season. Tidiane Firmesse also had an excellent game, scoring five goals to continue the good form he showed against Saran.
The defeat sees Les Rouge et Bleu drop to eighth place in the Nationale 1 standings. Their opponents on the day are jut two pooint - but four places - ahead. ASPTT Mulhouse/Rixheim are the undisputed leaders, with 19 points in total and six wins in seven matches.
Our youngsters will need to bounce back in their next match, which sees them play host to Tremblay-en-France, bottom of the table with six defeats in as many games. See you for throw-off at 18:00 on Saturday 8 November.
