"A long-term project"
When officially introducing the new coach Paulo César, the sporting director of the women's section, Angelo Castellazzi, spoke about the new tactician's profile: "Paulo won the French U19 championship last season as a coach. It is thanks to his work and his methods that we have chosen to start this new season with him, in a long-term project. We share the same vision of football and the Club."
The new coach took the opportunity to outline what he expects from his team this season: "I am very happy to be in this position, and I will draw on my dual French-Brazilian culture to develop our style of play. Rigour, balance and creativity, with the extra effort I learned in Brazil. That's what I'm going to advocate for this season, with many big matches and competitions ahead of us."
"Our work begins with youth development"
When asked by journalists about the club's ambitions, Angelo Castellazzi emphasised the importance of Parisian youth development, which forms the basis of this project: "We want to be competitive in every competition we play in, which is Paris Saint-Germain's overall goal. And this work starts with youth development. Last season, we were the team with the youngest average age in the Première League. That's no coincidence, but this process takes time. However, we are convinced that this is the way forward when you want to be competitive and win trophies. We want to continue our work, make the most of the talent we have and find the right balance to achieve the results we want."
All this is combined with the tactical expertise of the Brazilian coach, who is very clear about his approach: "Tactically, we want to play attacking football. But we have several systems in place, with a defensive line of three or four players. We will analyse everything we do well and everything that can be improved, and we will share everything with the players so that everything goes smoothly on the pitch and they know their roles perfectly."
