It was the final pre-season match for our Rouge et Bleue, who have been training in the south of Spain since Sunday. And it was against Valencia that Paulo César's got the chance to perfect their preparation for the start of the season in a week's time. And what an opener it will be! The first leg of the UEFA Women’s Champions League play-offs at Frankfurt in Germany.
Our Parisians got off to a perfect start and opened the scoring in spectacular fashion. Romée Leuchter, carrying on from her excellent form last season, curled in a corner perfectly, sending it directly into Alice Pinguet's net (0–1, 42'). The lead was then doubled just before half-time when Merveille Kanjinga, who had come on to replace Charlier, produced a dazzling run before finishing powerfully (0–2, 45+2').
Leuchter later provided an assist from yet another perfectly delivered corner, finding Isabela, who guided the ball into the net with the inside of her foot to beat Alice Pinguet, a familiar face and name for the Paris side (0–3, 68').
The almost perfect evening concluded with Yaya heading home Olga Carmona's cross from point-blank range, adding yet another goal to the tally (0–4, 86'). It was a resounding victory that allowed the Parisian side to gain a great deal of confidence at this stage of their pre-season. They will return to Paris on Thursday before turning their full attention to their next match!
