Having joined the Club on 1 July 2024, the 28-year-old Egyptian international right back has now committed his long-term future to Paris Saint-Germain Handball. This extension reflects the Club's ambition to build its sporting project around some of the world's leading handball talents.
Developed at Zamalek SC, Yahia Omar began his professional career at just 19 years of age. With the Cairo-based club, the Giza native won the Egyptian Championship in 2019, three African Champions League titles (2017, 2018 and 2019) and two African Super Cups (2018 and 2019), quickly establishing himself as one of the continent's most promising talents.
In the summer of 2019, he moved to Europe on loan to Telekom Veszprém before joining the Hungarian club permanently in 2021. During his time there, he added further silverware to his record, winning the Hungarian Championship (2023), three SEHA League titles (2020, 2021 and 2022) and three Hungarian Cups (2021, 2022 and 2023), confirming his ability to perform at the highest level of European handball.
With the Egyptian national team, Yahia Omar has enjoyed remarkable continental success, winning four African Championship gold medals (2020, 2022, 2024 and 2026). He was also named the tournament's Most Valuable Player in 2022, 2024 and 2026, reinforcing his status as one of the leaders of the Pharaohs. In 2021, he helped Egypt achieve a historic fourth-place finish at the Tokyo Olympic Games, where he was named Best Right Back of the tournament after scoring 38 goals. He currently has 127 caps and 350 goals for his country.
Since arriving at Paris Saint-Germain Handball in the summer of 2024, Yahia Omar has quickly established himself as a key figure within the Parisian squad. Thanks to his power, shooting ability and capacity to make the difference in decisive moments, the Egyptian right back has become one of the leading players in his position on the European stage. His impact and consistency played a major role in the Club's French Championship triumph during the 2024–2025 and 2026-2026 seasons, confirming his importance to Paris Saint-Germain Handball's ambitions both domestically and in the EHF Champions League.
