Nordi Mukiele joins Sunderland
After beginning his football career at Paris FC, Nordi Mukiele joined Stade Lavallois, then a Ligue 2 club, at the age of 16. He made his debut with the Tango first team in November 2014 against AJ Auxerre, a few months before signing his first professional contract.
At the start of 2017, the Montreuil-born defender signed for Montpellier HSC, where he made 56 appearances in all competitions before being recruited by RB Leipzig in Germany in 2018. A versatile player, capable of playing in central defence or on the right side, he featured in 146 matches, including 23 in the Champions League, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists in four seasons in Germany. He also won his first trophy there, lifting the German Cup after a victory against Freiburg in the final in May 2022.
The following summer, Mukiele became a Paris Saint-Germain player, where he added to his trophy collection with two Ligue 1 titles (2023, 2024), one Coupe de France (2024), and two Trophée des Champions (2022, 2023), making 45 appearances in all competitions with the Rouge and Bleu. He also earned one cap with the French national team (against Finland in September 2021) after previously representing France at U18, U19, U20 and U21 levels.
Loaned to Bayer Leverkusen last season, Nordi Mukiele played 24 matches, scoring two goals, one of them in the Champions League against Inter Milan and providing one assist.
Paris Saint-Germain thanks Nordi Mukiele and wishes him the very best for the rest of his career.
