Kang-In Lee joins Atlético Madrid

After three years at Paris Saint-Germain, Kang-In Lee has signed for Atlético Madrid on a permanent transfer.
Born in Incheon, South Korea, in 2001, Kang-In Lee moved to Spain and joined the Valencia CF academy in 2011, at the age of 10. Seven years later, in 2018, he made his professional debut there at the age of just 17.
After three seasons, 62 matches played and three goals scored for Valencia, he signed for RCD Mallorca in the summer of 2021. Mainly deployed on the wings, but also capable of playing in a more central role, the South Korean left-footer enjoyed two successful seasons on the Balearic island. In his second year at Mallorca, he featured in 39 matches across all competitions, scoring 6 goals and providing 6 assists.
After joining Paris Saint-Germain in July 2023, Kang-In Lee made his first start for his new club on 12th August 2023 at the Parc des Princes against FC Lorient. A few weeks later, he made his Champions League debut in Paris’s 2–0 victory over Borussia Dortmund.
The attacking midfielder got his 2024–2025 campaign off to a flying start by scoring two goals in two Ligue 1 matches. He enjoyed a consistently strong season, playing 49 matches across all competitions, scoring 7 goals and providing 6 assists, and playing a key role in Paris Saint-Germain’s first-ever Champions League triumph.
A few weeks later, he got the 2025–2026 season off to the best possible start by scoring Paris’s first goal in the UEFA Super Cup, helping the club get back into the game before going on to win their first-ever trophy in the competition. He ended the season having played 39 matches, scoring 4 goals and providing 5 assists. His fine performances for the capital club earned him the prestigious award for Asian International Player of the Year 2025.
Standing at 1.73 metres, Lee has been a South Korean international player since 2019, having made 50 appearances for his national team and notably featured in all his side’s matches at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and subsequently at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In his three years wearing the Rouge & Bleu shirt, Kang-In Lee made 124 appearances, scored 16 goals, provided 16 assists and added twelve trophies to his collection, including two consecutive Champions League titles, to which he made a significant contribution.
